Mongolian northern most borders are part of Siberian Taiga, a cold forested biome (major life zone) characterized by coniferous forests consisting mainly of pines, spruces and larches which makes the area very distinct from steppe grasslands. Due to cold temperature and thick forests, taiga is one of the most remote destinations in the world, a hidden gem waiting to be explored by those who seek true adventure in the wilderness. One of the main features of the Taiga is definitely its unique residents, The Tsaatan people (The Reindeer herders), nomadic tribes that are of Tuvan descent and distinct in their cultures and traditions which they kept for centuries. Unlike most nomads, they live in teepees similar to Native American tribes and keep reindeer as a main source of their livelihood. As reindeers thrive in cold regions taiga as an ideal place for these tribal people. To truly enjoy taiga and meet the reindeer people, one has to travel on horseback for 4-5 days, making tented camps along the way, truly connecting with surrounding nature and finding spiritual tranquility.
